| Welcome to Upper Thumb Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is
a non-profit, volunteer-driven, faith-based organization. Homes are
built in partnership with families who demonstrate need and a
willingness to work with Habitat for Humanity by helping to build a home
of their own. With safe, decent and affordable housing, families are
better able to concentrate on parenting, employment, education, and
community involvement. Each habitat build site provides a setting for
people from all walks of life to work side by side in partnership with
future homeowners.
Habitat
is not a giveaway program. Habitat houses are sold to eligible
families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The
homeowner's monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more
Habitat houses. In addition to closing costs and the monthly mortgage
payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into
building their Habitat house and the houses of others. | |
